Guests say

Garden Cottage is a well-received holiday rental praised for its cleanliness, peaceful location, and welcoming owner. Guests appreciate the proximity to walks and local pubs, as well as the thoughtful touches like fresh eggs and biscuits. While some find the furniture and bed comfortable, others suggest improvements in comfort and facilities, noting the lack of a full oven and challenging shower setup due to low beams.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as spotless and very clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness maintained by the owner.

The cottage's location is frequently praised for its tranquility, beautiful surroundings, and easy access to walks and local amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Reviews are mixed regarding comfort; some guests find the furniture and bed comfortable, while others suggest they lack comfort. The low beams and sloping ceilings may pose challenges for taller individuals.

The facilities receive mixed feedback. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, but some note the absence of a full oven and limited utensils. The heating system and shower setup also receive some criticism.

Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures of the owner, such as providing fresh eggs and biscuits. However, it should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, may not be a guaranteed offering for all stays.

About this property

Mickleton 0.5 miles.

A pretty stone and slate-built Grade II listed cottage, situated on the owner's working farm on the edge of the village of Mickleton. Formerly the gardener's cottage, the property has undergone a tasteful and imaginative conversion to provide very comfortable and well-equipped accommodation with character features such as sloping ceilings and timber beams. The cottage is surrounded by spectacular Teesdale countryside and makes a great base for exploring this unspoilt part of the Dales. Note: Garden Cottage adjoins Ref. 558 Westfield Cottage and the properties can be booked together to accommodate a group of up to 9.

Situated in the heart of beautiful Teesdale close to the villages of Romaldkirk and Middleton is the small hamlet of Mickleton. Within Teesdale and just a few miles from the market town of Barnard Castle, this pretty village consists primarily of a cluster of stone houses set along a single street. With a post office, village shop and two pubs, Mickleton has everything a visitor could need. However for more specific amenities, Barnard Castle provides a huge range of shops, restaurants and pubs. Just on the doorstep are The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, providing beautiful walking routes through the local countryside. The River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are also close by.

The owner could not have been nicer. Or kinder. The cottage was clean tidy and had all you needed. The village isn't far and Middleton is only a mile or so. Good walks all round and not far from anywhere Loverly stay. Dog friendly and will be booking again. 110 /10 xxx

The cottage was furnished to reflect its age and idyllic tranquil position. It was very clean, comfortable and furnished with comfort in mind. Parking was excellent as were access to walks within the immediate vicinity of the cottage. Time stood still. Enchanting. 5* .

Great to be able to walk from the door, without driving every day.
