Southview Barn is nearly perfect.A great view from the cottage across field with sheep and donkeys to the Tees Valley beyond.Very well equipped. Good secure private parking and gated drive.Great location with only a short walk into Barnard Castle for a good choice of restaurants, pubs and shopping.Walking the Teeside Way from the door. Good walks only a short drive away in the Tees and Wear Valleys. I visited Durham and the Heritage coast and Locomotion at Shildon. Beamish museum is close too.If you are a light sleeper (I am) the only downside was the early start (5am) .of the local tippers past the cottage

This is the most wonderful place. Myself and my 2 friends stayed here for 3 nights and I didn't want to leave. The barn is so beautifully done with lots of lovely touches like the fresh flowers and welcome pack. There are walks from the doorstep and Barnard Castle 5 mins walk away. Also Bowes museum is over the road. If you have a dog I would suggest a long lead as there are sheep and chickens pottering about which we loved - as did my pup who wanted to play. Yes there is a road behind but was only busy at school time and tea time. Didn't bother us at all. The coffee machine is a Tassimo for anyone wondering. I will deffo be back with my husband.
