About this property

Nestled into a picturesque row of stone-front houses in the coastal town of Alnmouth, Begonia House is the ideal getaway for a family looking to explore the wonders of Northumberland. Set over three floors, you will find the living room on the first-floor, where an open fire crackles in the hearth, set into a traditional marble fireplace in a room where the furniture complements the history of the property with a bold red, an ideal space to relax at the end of the day with a glass of your favourite beverage. When stomachs start to rumble, a traditional cottage kitchen/diner houses contemporary amenities to cater to your culinary needs whilst expressing the heritage of the property through wooden roof beams and a tile floor, and there is the addition of an impressive AGA oven, and here there is a dining table for all guests to enjoy. Three bedrooms can be discovered throughout the property, beginning with a twin bedroom on the ground floor with roof beams and easy access to a family bathroom. A second bedroom, a double with storage and a handy en-suite, rests on the first floor, sporting sloping ceilings and with a sofa for extra seating, a second twin rests on the second floor. The local area of Alnmouth offers activities in abundance, beginning with scenic riverside and harbourside walks, leading down to a beautiful beach where you can enjoy a stroll and a family picnic. Alnmouth also offers a variety of local eateries so you can enjoy local produce, and a convenience store allows you to stock up on essentials. Alnmouth also houses Old School Art gallery and England’s Oldest 9 Hole Links Golf Course, however if you would like a taste of history, head over to the next town of Warkworth where there is a magnificent castle! Make the perfect family getaway with a stay at Begonia House.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.

Loved the views. Well equipped kitchen and the open fire made it a really good place to hunker down on a wet windy day. Thank you

    - complaints at all and we will most certainly be back if we can find some availability that suits.

Great location close to the beach and the village, some great walks straight from the doorstep, the corner shop is very handy for the essentials. Enjoyed the cosy open fire place with fuel provided, some good books, jigsaws and the TV/Wifi package kept us entertained on the rainy days. Bring your ninja parking skills if you plan to reverse park outside the cottage, achievable but a challenge. Marking lower for cleanliness as the windows were dirty on arrival to the point that we thought an opaque film had been used on the windows, they just needed a good clean. We found this odd as only two window panes with the best view of the sea had been cleaned in the bay window, all the other windows in the house were dirty. Disappointing as the big selling point for choosing this property was for the Seaview. Reported first thing Monday morning and windows cleaned Tuesday so quickly resolved.
