Aln Cottage in Alnwick is a well-regarded holiday rental with guests praising its central location, dedicated parking, and cosy atmosphere. The property is described as a comfortable 'home from home', well-equipped for a pleasant stay. While some minor maintenance issues and a lack of wardrobe space have been noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-presented. However, a few guests mentioned specific cleanliness issues such as a sticky kitchen cupboard and visible food remnants, which suggests room for improvement in cleaning standards.
The location of the cottage is highly praised for being central and within walking distance to Alnwick's attractions, as well as having a dedicated parking space. It serves as an excellent base for exploring Northumberland.
Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a homely feel. Some guests mentioned issues with the mattress and sofa comfort, indicating that while the majority of guests were satisfied, there is potential for enhancement in this area.
The cottage is considered well-equipped by most guests, but there are several comments about maintenance issues such as the DVD player connection, bathroom fixtures, and unreliable hot water. These suggest that while facilities are generally good, there is a need for better upkeep and modernisation.

Settled into the picturesque market town of Alnwick, Aln Cottage is within easy reach of local attractions, making it an ideal for a family looking to explore the coast of Northumberland. Be welcomed into this stone-built terraced cottage and settle into the siting/dining area with a cup of coffee, enjoying the eye-catching stone fireplace and the selection of books available to you. When mealtimes call, a kitchen with tiled walls and a countryside cottage feel encourages you to use the many amenities to cook a heart-warming meal, and you can even enjoy a cup of coffee outside on the bench as you watch the world go by. After a long day of exploring, freshen up in the bathroom before getting cosy in one of the two well-presented bedrooms, a king-size and a single. Alnwick enjoys stunning countryside surroundings, so why not head over to Hulne Park where walks beside the river and through countryside and forests can be had, and from here you can even visit the fantastic Alnwick Castle and grounds? Barter Books is a literature lover's dream, with many books for you to browse, as well as a tea shop where cake and tea can be had, or there is the option of heading over to Alnmouth, where you can enjoy a day by the coast, and from here you can visit Warkworth Castle and beach. Make the ideal trip to Northumberland with a stay at Aln Cottage.
The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
