Holly Cottage is a stone-built conversion nestled within the picturesque village of Longhoughton, with the owner living next door and only 4 miles from Alnwick. Independent access to the property is via an arched doorway where full height glass windows enhance the bright and airy ambience throughout the open plan living space. The immaculately presented bedrooms are on the first floor, and both enjoy the convenience of en-suite shower facilities. Exposed beams in the master bedroom add to the character, and to the rear of the property there is a spacious enclosed garden, perfect for dining alfresco and where children and pets can play.
Longhoughton is only 4 miles east of the historic market town of Alnwick, where there is a wide array of amenities including a cinema/playhouse, restaurants, independent shops and a variety of pubs. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) is a popular visitor attraction, or visit the Alnwick Gardens, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and poison garden where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe.
The glorious wide expanse of golden sands at Embleton is only 5 miles away. Holly Cottage offers easy access to explore the beautiful Northumberland Heritage Coast, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to the east, and the wild expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills to the west. Beach 1 mile. Shop 150 yards, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Welcoming hosts. Nice chocolate cake and a bottle of milk as a welcome! We knew what to expect, regarding size and equipment, but it was adequate for us and our dog. Comfy king-size bed in the main ensuite bedroom, and a smaller single bedroom also ensuite. Ideal for a couple. Surrounding area beautiful, and within easy reach of other places thanks to the A1. The lovely beach was a mile and a quarter walk away. The many beaches at Northumberland are fabulous. Longhoughton is a very nice village with a Co-op and a Coffee shop. We would definitely stay again.

Always lovely to come back to Holly Cottage. The place is snug with the log burner when chilly. Clean all round, with a good sized main bed and bedroom. Friendly hosts who are always willing to help. Great base for trips to beaches, castles etc. And a good cafe down the street 🙂
