About this property

Built around 1750, Lavender Cottage is a fantastic stone-built cottage ideal for a family or a group of adults looking for a Northumbrian base, with easy access to the town centre of Alnwick and the local pubs and shops. Be welcomed by this picturesque property and make your way into a charming sitting area with a wood-panelled feature wall, tasteful leather sofas and a woodburning stove, warming your feet as you grab a coffee and one of the selection of books available and relax beneath the historic roofbeams and airy atmosphere. Any budding chef will be delighted by the cottage style kitchen with a traditional fireplace housing an AGA oven, a dining table and many home-from-home amenities for your convenience.

Two bedrooms await your relaxation, a double with a wooden feature wall and vintage furniture and a twin with pink walls, and you can take a refreshing shower in the bathroom. Enjoy breakfast outside at the dining table, framed by pretty views of the cottage as well as mature trees and shrubs. Alnwick is a fantastic location for your Northumbrian adventure, with the local shops, pubs and eateries only a short walk from the property itself, and from here you can visit the fantastic Alnwick Castle and learn about the local history or take a walk through Alnwick Gardens. Riverside walks can be enjoyed through Hulne Park, however if you wish to spend the day beside the seaside, head over to Alnmouth where there is a lovely beach for you to try out watersports.

Make a family holiday to remember with a stay at the historic Lavender Cottage.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.

Loveley cottage perfect location the only thing I would say that could be improved is the cooking facility I think a conventional oven and hob would be better but other than that the cottage is perfect

Clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and perfectly located for exploring. We could have done with staying another week and I would definitely like to return. My first experience using an Aga was a positive one and I imagine the cottage would be lovely and cosy in the cooler months. Some lovely pubs and restaurants nearby but you definitely need to book ahead! Thank you
