Guests say

New Bakery cottage offers a comfortable and well-equipped base for exploring Alnwick and the surrounding Northumberland area. Guests appreciate its convenient location near local amenities and attractions, as well as the peaceful setting and good value for money. The property is generally comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere and helpful owners. Some guests noted areas for improvement, such as the need for a deeper clean, minor maintenance issues, and occasional road noise. Overall, it provides a pleasant stay for those looking to discover the region.

Several guests mentioned that the cottage was clean on arrival, but multiple reviews highlighted the need for a deeper clean, particularly under beds, skirting boards, and curtain tops. Bins were occasionally not emptied. Cleanliness is generally acceptable but could be improved with more thorough attention.

The location is highly praised, with easy access to Alnwick, the coast, and local amenities such as a pub and shop. Its proximity to attractions and transport links is a major positive, though some guests noted road noise in the mornings.

Guests found the cottage comfortable, with good beds (especially the double), cosy rooms, and a peaceful atmosphere. Some noted the single beds were less comfortable and living room seating could be improved. Road noise affected light sleepers in the main bedroom.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen utensils, three bathrooms, and essentials. However, several guests reported issues with the electric hob, water pressure in the bath, and occasional heating or hot water problems. Facilities are good but would benefit from some updates and maintenance.

There were no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Fantastic location and great value too. On bus route to Alnwick and beyond. Lovely cafe and pub just 2 minutes walk from the cottage, very friendly as are the neighbours. The cottage is well equipped with some quirky additions! The seatingc in the living room could do with a wee upgrade. Slept well even with the traffic rumbling past from 6am. We would definitely come back.

Whilst the cottage itself was clean,We found the bathroom bin had not been emptiedThe living room chairs suit were in need of changing, not comfortable at all. We found the traffic very noisy, especially in the main bedroom

Although it was difficult to find this house on arrival, a young lad who lived nearby showed us where it was. So clearer instructions would have been helpful. The property had everything we needed and was in a great location, easy for the coast, Northumberland National Park and even a day trip to Edinburgh! One main problem was that the water pressure in the bath was useless and would’ve taken ages to run a bath, therefore we had to use the en suite shower. Although the property looked fairly clean, on closer inspection I’d say it needed a real deep clean. Otherwise all in all a great week staying here, thank you!
