The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.

Beautiful accommodation in wonderful setting. Problem with the hearing and never resolved during our stay, even though they came to look at it and told us the timer wasnât working and to operate it manually. Problem was getting up in the morning to a cold cottage to switch the heating on manually by turning up the thermostat. However, still a lovely stay.

Well equipped, comfortable cottage. One of a group but each has it's own surrounding space and hot tub, with views towards the coast. Love the fact that you can book the indoor pool so that effectively you have it to yourself. We plan to return

We had a fantastic week at smithy cottage and the little touches provided were much appreciated cottage is amazing and the views from them just special swimming pool and grounds and hot tub spotless and we made the most of would only have one suggestion that new pillows and robes would be much appreciated will be booking again for next year
