Whinny Cottage in Northumberland is a well-equipped and well-appointed holiday rental with a swimming pool and hot tub, appreciated by guests. Its location is ideal for exploring the coast and nearby village. While some guests mentioned minor issues with mirror placement and accessibility, the overall experience is positive, with the property offering a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score for this category.

The cottage's location is praised for being perfect for exploring the Northumberland coast and having good access to the beach and local village, indicating a high level of satisfaction among guests.

Guests find the cottage well-equipped and comfortable, though some noted that the bedrooms could get stuffy and the mirrors were placed too high. The pool's accessibility was a concern for a guest with arthritis.

The swimming pool and hot tub are highlights, with guests enjoying private sessions. However, there are comments about the need for better steps into the pool and a more robust clothes airer, suggesting room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

The provision of welcome foods suggests thoughtfulness on the part of the host. However, as gifts are not guaranteed, this should be considered a pleasant addition rather than an expectation.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.

Swimming Hot tub peaceful good location

Swimming pool fabulous, loved having sessions on our own, salt water chlorination so much gentler on skin. Only negative for us was that cars were parked too close to the bottom of our ramp preventing our car from being able to pick me up there so I had to use the steps, I think they were from The Retreat. They said they had to park there so as not to narrow up the gate.

The cottage is well equipped and well appointed and a perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast. The swimming pool and hot tub were an attraction of the location, and we made good use of both. The cottage has everything you need, but would agree with previous comments that the small mirrors in the bedrooms were too high up. The bedrooms did get stuffy at night because the windows are side opening and so we didn't want to leave them open other than on the latches overnight. The cottage would benefit from a larger and more robust clothes airer, particularly when there are multiple towels and swimming costumes to dry and the weather is too wet to get them out on the line (although the heated towel rail in the bathroom was very welcome). Overall we had a great time at North Farm Cottages which were quiet and secluded but with good access to the beach and to the village of Embleton.
