About this property

Nestling in the heart of sought after Bamburgh in Northumberland, Stone Cottage is a delightful stone-built property ideal for a family holiday or couples travelling together. The accommodation is spacious and well-presented with an attractive open-plan living area complete with a welcoming seating area, somewhere you can imagine curling up together, chilling out and really getting into the holiday vibe. The kitchen is immaculate and fully fitted with everything needed to produce hearty food for your holiday party with an elegant dining area all set up ready to host long, leisurely meals. For less formal dining, pull up a stool at the breakfast bar in the kitchen or use it as an opportunity to pour yourself a drink and keep the designated chef company. Outside, there is an attractive garden which is fully enclosed and safe for children (and a dog!) to play in together with a patio area complete with patio furniture, the perfect spot to enjoy any sunshine and spend time alfresco. When it’s time for bed, choose from a king-size or a twin; both are stylish and offer a welcome sanctuary after a tiring day of getting out and about exploring. Bamburgh is just a few minutes’ walk and has a good selection of shops and amenities as well as the castle. Head off from here and carry on along the Heritage Coastline where you will find miles of sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages and breath-takingly beautiful castles. Other towns worth visiting in the region include Alnwick, Seahouses (just a few miles away) and you can even head to the border and visit the ever-popular town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Activities to look forward to in the area include golf, sailing (from Seahouses to the Farne Islands), birdwatching, hiking, cycle rides and horse-riding. Offering traditional accommodation in the heart of a picturesque village, Stone Cottage promises guests an enjoyable stay.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

This is because it is in such a good location, ideal for walking and not having to move the car. However, I do feel, given it's price category, that I need to make a couple of points. Firstly given the property is for 4 people, and there are only 2 two seater sofas, I do feel at least some foot stools could be provided. There were 3 of us staying this time, and even then, there is no room to stretch out, relax and put your feet up after a days walking. Secondly, the toaster, I mean really, for 4 people? It's not even big enough to toast a full size slice of bread. Minor improvements I feel, at very little cost. Overall a nice cottage that would benefit from some upgrading comfort wise.

We love the location, it’s quiet but so near the beach and Bamburgh facilities. The cottage is clean, warm and cosy. We struggle with it being dog friendly and each time before we let Luna in have to move the two cube sidetables to bottom of the stairs so we can abide by the no dog upstairs rule! This as we are getting older is then difficult for us humans to climb over to get up/downstairs easily!! A stair gate would be useful to provide as you have open stairs from the lounge!!

This property has everything needed in a holiday cottage.Perfectly situated for the beach and the Main Street in Bamburgh. I would just point out the broken blind on the French doors and the parking space is not fully utilised. Due to a wooden frame in front of the kitchen window, there is only room for one car parked at an angle. Removal of the frame would allow two cars to park.
