About this property

Converted Georgian stables in the grounds of Dunstan Hall makes a charming holiday cottage for couples or families. Stable Cottage is a mile from Craster and the Northumberland coast in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It sleeps four people in two rooms with panoramic views over the countryside towards Dunstanburgh Castle from the house and the garden. You can walk to the village pub and are within only a few miles of Alnwick and Bamburgh with their incredible castles and lively towns. Surfing, walking, cycling, fishing, and golf are all easily accessible.

Stable Cottage is a beautiful holiday home a mile from Craster and a mile and a half along a pretty bridleway to the sandy beach at Embleton Bay. It is just a short 400-yard stroll from the Cottage Inn village pub in Dunstan. The Grade-II listed former stable block has been transformed into a comfortable and welcoming holiday home where couples, families and friends can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stable Cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is completely private and self-contained. You can book it on its own or with Dunstan Hall (sleeping 18 people) and Hemmel House (sleeping six people) to accommodate 29 family members or friends for a group holiday, wedding accommodation, or reunion.

As a holiday destination, Dunstan lets you experience the best of the Northumberland Coast. Gorgeous countryside on the doorstep and beautiful beaches within a 20 to 30 minute walk mean that you can plan a holiday to make your heart sing. Bring your surfboard, kiteboard, SUP or kayak. Don't forget your wetsuit - this is the North Sea! Equipment and tuition are available locally, as are guided coasteering tours for certified adrenaline junkies. These waters are also popular for diving and snorkelling. If you prefer to stay dry, grab your binoculars and take a walk along the coastal footpath. Healthy seal and puffin populations are best seen from a wildlife sightseeing boat tour, or you can book a photography walk or boat trip with a local expert who can help you capture images you'll treasure forever.

Northumberland has many castles and fortified buildings due to its proximity to the Scottish border, but Alnwick is one of the finest. It's enormous, second in size only to Windsor as the largest inhabited castle in Britain, with grand collections and glorious gardens befitting its status. Home to the Percy family for almost a thousand years, Alnwick Castle offers something for everyone. Children can learn to fly a broom in the same place as Harry Potter did - the castle doubled as the grounds of Hogwarts in the first two films in the franchise. Outside the castle, Alnwick is a good place for eating and shopping, especially if you love books, as it is home to the biggest secondhand bookshop in the country.

Other local attractions include Howick Hall, Cragside, and castles at Bamburgh, Warkworth and Chillingham. Bring your bike or hire one locally and cycle a stretch of the Coast to Castles route, or make the most of having the magnificent Cheviot Hills only half an hour away to hike or mountain bike. Golfers and anglers also have a great choice of opportunities.
