Gullsway is a spacious and cosy cottage in an unbeatable location, just steps from the beach and close to local amenities. Guests consistently praise the sea views, well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable living areas. The property is ideal for exploring the Northumberland coast and offers a peaceful retreat. While some fixtures and furnishings could benefit from extra care and occasional deep cleaning, recent improvements show that feedback is being addressed. Overall, Gullsway offers excellent value and a memorable seaside stay, with only minor details detracting from an otherwise delightful experience.
Many guests found the property clean and presentable, but several reviews mention issues such as crumbs, stained fabrics, musty towels, mould, and the need for a deep clean in some areas. Improvements have been noted, but cleanliness can be inconsistent.
The location is universally praised, with direct beach access, sea views, and proximity to shops, pubs, and attractions. Guests highlight the peaceful setting and convenience for exploring the area.
Guests generally found the cottage spacious, cosy, and the beds comfortable. Occasional comments mention an uncomfortable mattress or minor draughts, but overall comfort is rated highly, especially with the log burner and heating.
The kitchen is well-equipped and the property offers good basics, but some fixtures (e.g., dining chairs, garden furniture, shower fittings) are tired or in need of repair. Maintenance issues are sometimes addressed promptly, but not always before arrival.
Some guests received a welcome pack with tea, coffee, and biscuits, while others found none or only basic supplies. Essentials like tea towels, toilet paper, and cleaning items are not always provided. Please note that welcome gifts are not guaranteed.

This is a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts, including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. It can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown; idyllic for a romantic barefoot stroll in the sand, to listen to the waves lap against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air. Two miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands – famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony – depart regularly from its harbour. Here there are several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and shops with horse-riding, fishing and golf on the links close by, this being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island – known as the birthplace of Christianity, and is the site of Lindisfarne Castle, can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy). Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden – a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!

Positives- Great location overlooking the sea. Spacious and equipped for the stay. The central heating works well. Quiet and comfortable. Company responded very quickly and efficiently when a blind was reported as broken.Room for Improvement- Some fixtures and fittings are looking abit tired. Cushions and blinds need replacing. It needs mirrors in the 2 rear bedrooms. The bathroom window doesn't open as there was no key meaning it steams up easily. The side door was very difficult to lock and the lock really needs replacing. No welcome kit in the kitchen so had to go straight out to buy basics like a cloth, and sponge which are normally provided as standard. We would stay again due to lovely location but there are better properties in this price range.

Absolutely loved the accommodation. Great locaton, within a few minutes walk from the beach or pubs. The accommodation was clean, presentable and very equipped. It would of been nice to have a walk in shower but was not a problem. Would definitely recommend a d would definitely visit again. The only negative about the trip was having to plan your shopping. The nearest big supermarket was 10 miles away. 5/5 ❤️
