Spindle Well Barn, renovated in 2018/2019 to provide cosy accommodation, with a warming wood burner and wooden floors it makes the perfect retreat for couples, with footpaths from the door into the spectacular surrounding countryside. Set within the Northumberland National Park, the cottage sits in the grounds of the owner’s 650-acre working farm, making this a picturesque and tranquil setting with walking opportunities in abundance. Elsdon is a peaceful village with a friendly local pub serving good food, set near Otterburn, which has two famed wedding venues and a friendly pub/restaurant. For a wider array of amenities, nearby supermarkets do deliver, or take a trip to Bellingham, just 9 miles away.

Head over to the picturesque and unspoilt Northumberland Heritage Coast with miles of unspoilt beaches, historic castles and quaint fishing villages. Hadrian’s Wall is within easy distance and can be seen stretching for miles. The rugged moorland and hills, the pretty coastal villages and historic city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne are all close by, only 30 miles away, perfect for theatres, shopping, culture, and music. I had an excellent long weekend at Spindle Well Barn. The cottage is beautiful. Well equipped, comfortable, clean and the hosts are lovely and very helpful. It's isolated which makes for a very peaceful location but there is a shop ten minutes away in Otterburn. Would book this cottage again in a heartbeat :)
