1 Dunkirk Cottages is a warming cottage in a brilliant rural location.
"A bustling little market town, Hexham is full of antique shops and popular with tourists visiting nearby Hadrian’s Wall. Beautiful old Hexham Abbey dates back to the 7th century and has a superb Saxon crypt. Shoppers flock to colourful stalls in The Shambles in the Market Place on Tuesday and close by is the 14th Century Moot Hall, now an art gallery. The town boasts plenty of open spaces, particularly the Sele, next to the Abbey which is now a lovely public park. Nearby is Tyne Green - a riverside country park - and Hexham Race Course is just to the south of the town.

The property is very well maintained and extremely clean. The facilities and comfort are second to none. We have stayed in many self catering cottages over the years but I think this is the nicest we have stayed in, and at an extremely competitive price. The owner even took the time to come and say hi, and reasure us he was there if we needed anything. The location gave us walking access to Hexham, Chesters Fort and the Roman wall. We had a fantastic holiday. Thank you.

The elephant in the room of course is the road only a few metres away, with constant and heavy quarry lorries passing by. You get used to this to some extent, but maybe not if you're a light sleeper.

Friendly and helpful host. First class internet in spite of remote area. We hope to go back again next year.
