Originally built in the 1700s, this detached barn has been thoughtfully restored to a high standard, retaining much of its historical charm while incorporating stylish, modern comforts. The striking roof is crafted from the same weathered steel used on the Angel of the North, giving the property a unique character.
Inside, bi-fold doors lead you into a bright, open-plan living space where a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and cosy lounge come together beneath high ceilings. A woodburner and even a disco ball brings warmth and a touch of fun to your evenings. The king-sized bedroom features original beams and leads to a luxurious en-suite bathroom with a triple shower. Outside, you’ll find a charming seating area at the front, while to the rear, a few steps take you to a private sun trap, the perfect spot for a morning coffee or sunset drink. Guests also have direct access to riverside and woodland walks via the grounds. One dog is welcome, though due to nearby livestock, they must be kept on a lead.

The renowned Derwent Reservoir is just a short drive away, offering opportunities for scenic walks, birdwatching, sailing, and paddleboarding. Third stay here and fourth visit already booked.Vicky and Simon are lovely and are so considerate making for such a relaxed stay.Accommodation as usual was fantastic. Wildlife was abundant, Roe Deer, Brown Hares and Barn Owl right on the doorstep.So peaceful, nice walks, stunning sun sets and constellations galore.

A delightful barn, lovingly restored and very welcoming. Cosy atmosphere with underfloor heating and a log burner. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and lovely little touches. Vicky and Simon are great hosts and even arranged for the cows and deer to visit. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will return for another visit.

Quarry barn was a very comfortable well appointed cottage. Lovely welcome pack, which was much appreciated. Cottage was in a lovely location; with easy access to many local attractions. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
