Homely detached bungalow, located in the quaint village of Allendale provides the ideal location for anyone looking for a break in the North East of England. The two bedroom property is perfect for families or groups of friends, and is capable of sleeping up to four people in two bedrooms, combining modern interior with beautiful views of the Northumberland countryside at the rear. After a busy day in the town, you won’t have to go far to recharge your batteries, with the property’s two bedrooms situated near to its front door. There’s a double and twin bedroom, though the twin’s zip link beds can be upgraded to a king-size should you wish to do so. The stylish bathroom will ensure you start the day off in the best possible way or enjoy a nice soak in the bath to complete your day. The property’s sitting area is complete with a smart TV, meaning that you won’t miss out on any of your favourite programmes. The nearby French doors also allow you to open your doors to the outside, so let the fresh air in while catching up with a book. There’s also a good-size kitchen and garage, which is used as a utility room. The enclosed garden is perfect for some sunbathing, and offers beautiful views of the countryside, in particular the buttercup field directly opposite. It’s also big enough for the dog to walk out and get some exercise. Just a three minute walk away, are the nearby Kings Head pub and Golden Lion Hotel, which offer a good choice of food and drink. Guests staying over the New Year period are recommended to try out the Tar Bar’l festival, which started back in 1858. While those in the area during late summer need to see the Allen Valley folk festival.
Cyclists and hikers won’t be disappointed either, with numerous picturesque routes just waiting to be explored, there is also a garage for safe store of bicycles . While the cities of Newcastle and Sunderland are both located an hour’s drive away. With so much to see and explore in the area, the property provides the prime spot to begin your journey.
Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain. It's ideally placed for to Carlisle and Lake District to the west, Hexham, Newcastle and Durham to the east and the Hadrian's Wall to the north. There are lots of walks, cycling opportunities and coastline too., Allendale is plays host to the New Year tradition of Tar Bar'ls and the Allen Valleys Folk Festival.

Great base for visiting surrounding attractions. The cottage was so homely, well equipped, clean, you could want for nothing more. Only a short distance to local amenities/pubs. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

We're not dog owners so were grateful that the place had been thoroughly cleaned leaving no trace of four-legged visitors. Moving the comfy chair from the bedroom to behind the sofa provided an ideal spot to sit and read while watching the birds in the small garden. My only gripe was that getting out of the shower, which is over the bath, there is an unexpected drop of about 8" to the floor so care is needed.
