Set in a raised position, yet only 800 yards to the main bridge, Alt-na-Craig has wonderful views overlooking Rothbury. This cottage is ideally located within walking distance of this historic and pretty small market town, with pubs, shops, tea rooms and all the local amenities you will need. This well-proportioned, cosy and comfortable home is ideal for families, couples or small groups of friends. Furnished in a contemporary style, it features a large L-shaped sofa and gas fire, perfect for those cooler evenings. To the rear is a sunroom leading out to an enclosed south-facing courtyard garden, ideal for sitting out on a sunny evening.
Rothbury is a popular base for exploring the surrounding countryside by foot, cycle or car. You can visit Cragside, the beautiful National Trust property and gardens, on the outskirts of the town. The less energetic may wish to take a gentle stroll along the river and finish off at one of the friendly pubs which all serve food. The more active can trek over to the Simonside Hills or visit Kielder, which has a host of water sports. The drive along the resevoir is spectacular and the dark skies at night are a major visitor attraction.
Set on the edge of the National Park, the cottage is also ideally located for exploring the nearby villages, the Northumberland heritage coast and is only 12 miles from Alnwick, star of the Harry Potter films. You may even wish to venture to the Scottish Borders, or the friendly city of Newcastle upon Tyne, where you can explore the historic buildings and take a photo by the famous Tyne Bridge (both 30 miles away). Beach 17 miles. Pub and restaurant 800 yards.

Well equipped house with comfy beds and cosy sitting room. Ideal base to explore Northumberland and Rothbury has good shops and restaurants. Really enjoyed our week long stay and found that the cottage helped that outcome.

A lovely wee cottage in a prime location in Rothbury, 5 minutes from the town centre with free parking on site and lovely views. The cottage was clean and the beds were excellent, no sore backs here. We appreciated the small touch of a chocolate cake on arrival. The kitchen was well equipped with pots and pans, knives, corkscrew etc etc which made it easy to prepare meals. The outside space is lovely and perfect for a little al fresco dining. The instructions for arrival were very good and we had no trouble gaining entry. The only things that could have made it better were perhaps some more of the small comfort touches - soap, shampoo/body wash in the showers, more towels, more loo roll, salt and cooking oil provided, maybe 1 or 2 dishwasher tablets…these are all things that have been provided in other self catering accommodations of a similar price we’ve stayed in and it does make a difference to the experience. All in all a lovely stay.
