Guests say

Heughendon is a well-appointed and spacious cottage in a peaceful location, ideal for exploring Rothbury and Northumberland. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, proximity to local amenities and scenic walks, and the welcoming atmosphere. The property is comfortable and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches such as welcome packs noted by many. Some guests mention minor issues with dog security, parking, and the comfort of sofas and beds, but overall, the experience is highly positive and many would return.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as spotless, very clean, and well maintained. Only one review mentions a minor issue with the recycling bin being full on arrival, but this does not detract significantly from the overall impression.

The location is frequently described as excellent, peaceful, and ideal for exploring the area, with easy access to shops, eateries, and scenic walks. The only minor negative is parking being a little awkward for some guests.

Most guests found the cottage comfortable, warm, and spacious. However, a few mentioned that the sofas and beds, particularly in the second bedroom, could be improved for better comfort.

The cottage is described as well-equipped with modern appliances and everything needed for a pleasant stay. Some minor suggestions for improvement include better quality pots and pans, a sound bar, and a freestanding shower. Maintenance issues such as the cooker hood and lack of oven gloves were also noted.

Many guests appreciated the welcome packs, including wine, Prosecco, and shortbread, as well as provisions for dogs. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The property was in an ideal position for access to the shops in Rothbury, which in turn is a great location for exploring Northumberland. A bit awkward parking the car away from the house but we managed ok after initially parking in another property's space, which wasn't clear. The neighbours were very friendly and helpful. The property was on the whole clean and well maintained. The downside for us was that both sofas were uncomfortable, I think the springs must have gone and the bed and pillows weren't much better, we both ended our stay with bad backs. Other niggles were no oven gloves in the kitchen making using the oven and grill a bit dangerous with the risk of burns when you only have teatowels to protect your hands. Also the only bin liner was the one already in the bin so we had to buy more as the recycle bin was already full when we got there. We also had to buy more toilet rolls as only 2 left for the week. Because of these issues we wouldn't stay in that property again, which is a shame as everything else was very good.
