The village offers a local pub serving good food, a hairdressers and a local store. The bustling village of Rothbury lies just 9 miles to the west, nestling between the Simonside and Lordenshaw Hills with the River Coquet meandering through the centre. Brinkburn Priory is a pleasant, short drive away - a restored Augustinian Priory in a most lovely setting beside the River Coquet. On the outskirts of Rothbury is the National Trust’s Cragside House and Gardens, whilst the Heritage Coast with its many grand, historic castles and miles of golden sandy beaches is just 20 minutes’ drive to the east. The historic town of Alnwick, with its magnificent castle and garden, lies just 14 miles to the north and is a great day out for all the family. With the spectacular National Park also within easy reach, this is the perfect spot for exploring Northumberland or taking a relaxing break!
