Sea Haven is set on a quiet terraced street only a 2-minute stroll from the promenade and beach in the small, friendly seaside village of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Renovated in 2020, this terraced cottage makes a perfect holiday base for couples, friends or small families. Offering spacious, open plan accommodation downstairs, a double and twin bedroom and a modern family bathroom.
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, once a thriving fishing village, still has a few fishing cobles that can be seen going out to sea. If you are lucky enough, you may spot the dolphins or some seals and will often see the local ’dolphin watch’ team around. Set in the bay is “Ebb and Flo” by Sean Henry, a popular attraction being the only current, east coast offshore sculpture. Regular exhibitions and music events are held in the Maritime Centre, where the café overlooks the lovely bay. Newbiggin has friendly Italian and Indian restaurants, and a selection of cafés and small shops. A local bus stops practically at the door, where a discounted weekly bus ticket takes you all around the county.
A family-run Italian ice cream parlour dating back to the 1950s is in the centre of the promenade next to the bandstand. A glorious sandy beach is the backdrop for the sweeping bay, ideal for picnics and exploring the rock pools. Nearby Woodhorn Museum holds regular events, and there is coarse fishing available at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, complete with a large lake with swans. The sweeping sands at Druridge Bay are only 3 miles away, and is the start of the Heritage Coastline Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of golden sands and unspoilt villages to explore. You can follow this road all the way up to Holy Island which makes for a great road trip. The historic town of Morpeth is only 9 miles away with plenty of shops and pubs. The town of Amble, with a bustling Sunday market, is a little further afield and offers a working harbour and quaint little beach huts available to hire. The city of Newcastle, with its vibrant night life, theatres, arts and shops, is only 18 miles away, and a bus can be taken nearby straight into the centre of town. The Northumberland National Dark Sky Park is 53 miles away, making a great change from the coast, and you can explore the delights of Hadrian’s Wall all within easy driving distance. Alnwick Castle and Gardens, 25 miles, is easily accessed. Beach 100 yards. Shop and pub 300 yards, restaurant 500 yards.

Excellent House… must be one of the best we’ve visited with cottage .com We stayed here 3 years ago and was great to find it was available again. House has everything you need and more. Many homely touches included , we would certainly stay again.

Excellent location, tastefully decorated well equipped. One sofa could have been more comfortable and a blind to the bathroom window would have left me feeling less exposed when the light was on. Appreciated the welcome gifts
