Dolly’s Cottage is located in a peaceful rural village overlooking the Tyne Valley, a fabulous base for exploring this beautiful part of Northumberland and beyond. It is the perfect location for a relaxing break or active holiday. The cottage has a large living room and a lovely inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, for those cooler evenings. The raised patio to the rear which is accessed through the French doors, is ideal for relaxing and taking in the view over the countryside.
While you are here make sure you visit some of the nearby attractions Cherryburn (National Trust) and Prudhoe Castle (English Heritage) that make for interesting trips out. Take a day to explore Beamish Open Air living museum and other days to explore Hadrian’s Wall (World Heritage Site), which was the north-west frontier of the Roman Empire for nearly 300 years. Nearby, the pretty village of Wylam has an multi-award winning camra pub. The restaurant, only a few yards away, serves lovely food and is popular with villagers and visitors alike. Dolly’s Cottage is an ideal retreat to come home to after a day out exploring this diverse and friendly county, with something to see and do for everyone. Beach 15 miles.

Great base to visit Northumberland from with easy acces to A69 and A1 20 minute drive to Newcastle. Perfect for our needs.

The location close to the major routes but in a quiet village was what we were looking for.First impressions good , especially cleanliness and space inside.However we did have some issues in particular with the shower getting ‘stuck’ on hot and struggling to turn the tap off . We did report the issue on day 2 but nothing happened. We gave up using the shower .Also some of the equipment is now looking tired and in need of upgrading . The control makings on the oven had been wiped off with use, therefore oven setting was a bit of a lottery.Tv needs an upgrade..small and could not access streaming services ie Netflix etc.Towels soon became smelly and are due a replacement .Parking was a bit tight .
