You can enjoy a coffee outside in the courtyard where there are colourful shrubs and a table and chairs, and only a short distance from the property there is a beautiful riverbank, and you can hire fishing permits from the local post office and see what you can catch. Warkworth is a wonderful seaside town steeped in heritage where you can begin your holiday by exploring the independent shops and tasty eateries the town has to offer, and there is also an art gallery. Coastal walks can be enjoyed from the fantastic sandy beach, however if you are a lover of history then a visit to Warkworth Castle and Warkworth Hermitage, both fascinating historic sites, will be a must, and you can enjoy a walk around the surrounding woodland and countryside. Further from the town you will find the market town of Alnwick with a second castle and within easy reach the amazing Holy Island and its many attractions. Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
