The beauty of the tastefully finished sitting room continues into a contemporary kitchen, boasting grey furniture and tiled walls, catering to your culinary needs with many home-from-home amenities. The bathroom is contemporary, with stunning angular furniture and grey tiles, you will simply love relaxing in a warm bath at the end of a long day exploring the coast. The bedrooms are both charming, the first, a double, housing tasteful furniture, a dressing table, and a large wardrobe to store all of your belongings and the twin room is simply idyllic, with pretty metal framed beds and wooden flooring. You can enjoy a coffee outside in the courtyard where there are colourful shrubs and a table and chairs, and only a short distance from the property there is a beautiful riverbank, and you can hire fishing permits from the local post office and see what you can catch. Warkworth is a wonderful seaside town steeped in heritage where you can begin your holiday by exploring the independent shops and tasty eateries the town has to offer, and there is also an art gallery. Coastal walks can be enjoyed from the fantastic sandy beach, however if you are a lover of history then a visit to Warkworth Castle and Warkworth Hermitage, both fascinating historic sites, will be a must, and you can enjoy a walk around the surrounding woodland and countryside. Further from the town you will find the market town of Alnwick with a second castle and within easy reach the amazing Holy Island and its many attractions. Delve deeper into the history of Northumberland with a stay at the wonderful Dray Cottage.

Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.

Pleased we did not have any one with us as it would be a bit small downstairs. A booking arrival time of 5pm and 9.30 am departure time was not ideal.

Well equipped. Great location. Only down was the plug in air freshners which were a bit overpowering.

It is comfortable and in an excellent location. We had everything we needed, and appreciated the little touches such as soap etc; the cottage is beautifully decorated and spotless. One minor point - the parking spaces next to the river are not allocated to specific properties so it is first come first served; we always found a space along the river, but not always close to the house - fine for us but maybe not for everyone.
