The open-plan space means that cooking can be a sociable experience with guests able to pull up a chair in the dining area and keep the designated chef company.

When it’s time to serve up, guests can gather at the rustic dining table and look forward to long, lazy meals together. After a relaxing evening chilling in front of the woodburning stove and maybe catching up on a film on the TV, you can make your way to bed. You will find two beautifully presented bedrooms, a double and a single with a pull-out truckle bed, ideal for the children. Waking up in the morning at Wisteria Cottage, you are already in the perfect location for getting out and about exploring. The pretty village of Warkworth is within walking distance and is known for being home of the dramatic ruins of a 12th century castle.

Its link to the past continues with the village’s selection of artisan shops and art galleries and it also has a beach and a golf course. Attractions in the area worth visiting include Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands and Alnwick Gardens. Other beaches nearby worth packing a bucket and spade for include Alnmouth, Cresswell, Embleton and Newton Haven. Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
