About this property

Attached to the main farmhouse, Bridge End Bothy dates back to the early 1600's and has independent and private access within the village of Wooler. As a characterful stone-built holiday cottage, much of its historic charm and original features have been retained to keep couples or travellers returning all-year-round. Inside, the lounge boasts exposed beams, reclaimed wooden floors, and a woodburning stove which is tucked away into an inglenook fireplace. Period features continue into the kitchen/diner, which boasts a country cottage feel, with French doors that open up to the lovely garden. There is also the addition of a utility area and a bathroom, both located on the ground floor. Upstairs you will discover two bedrooms; a large double and a smaller double, both are layered with a sense of tradition, and presented in a classic yet unique fashion. Outside you will find an enclosed garden, a beautiful suntrap which locks in the sunshine throughout the day, where you can sit back with a refreshing drink and be at one with the fabulous location. The retreat lies next to a river and Doddington Milk Bar, which offers an opportunity for you to dine for breakfast and lunch, or indulge in one of their array of sweet treat and of course the famous Doddington Dairy ice cream. Also within striking distance of the cottage is the Riverside Complex, offering endless hours of fun for the whole family, with use of a heated swimming pool, a bar with Sky Sports and a restaurant with a menu to suit all tastes. On the edge of the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is just a short drive away from the historic town of Alnwick, with its famous castle and Gardens, and the well preserved Garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Chillingham Castle, with its ancient herd of wild white cattle and Coldstream, just over the Scottish border, are definitely worthy of a visit. A holiday to remember.

The market town of Wooler is situated on the banks of the River Till, in the foothills of the Cheviots which form part of the Pennine Way. Wooler has a selection of hotels and eating places and offers an excellent location for exploring the whole of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Within driving distance is Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Chillingham Castle and Coldstream.

Nice comfy beds, great log burning fire which was easy to get going on cold days, nicely equipped kitchen and private enclosed courtyard which was safe for furry friends. Shower was great, only downside couldn't seem to get water hot enough when filling the bath! Overall would recommend and will return if we are in the area again! Many Thanks.

We stayed at the cottage last year and really enjoyed it We rebooked for September and once again loved staying there Before leaving we booked up for my birthday in December As soon as I walk through the door I feel at home The cottage is well equipped and I found everything I needed there The outside space is great with parking at the front and sitting area round the back It's very dog friendly /safe Locally it has some lovely places to visit and Wooler has a good high st with independent shops If I was to say anything negative about the cottage it's that the toilets are down stairs This however did not cause us any problems I would certainly recommend staying here if your planning to visit Northumberland
