Guests say

White Rose Cottage in Guisborough offers a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and secure patio. Its central location provides easy access to local shops, eateries, and attractions, making it a convenient base for exploring the North York Moors & Coast. Guests have appreciated the thoughtful touches by the host, though some have noted areas where cleanliness and maintenance could be improved.

Reviews indicate a mixed response regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, while others reported issues such as unemptied bins, dirty kitchen appliances, and general dust and grime. The inconsistency in cleanliness has led to a slightly above average score.

The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to local amenities, dog-friendly establishments, and ease of access to nearby attractions like Saltburn and Whitby. The convenience of the location has been a highlight for many guests.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with positive remarks about the comfy beds and spacious bedrooms. However, some guests mentioned issues with soft mattresses and the lack of bathroom facilities upstairs, slightly affecting the overall comfort score.

The property is well-equipped with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, and guests have enjoyed the secure patio area. Nonetheless, there are comments about the need for maintenance, such as fixing the shower head and providing clearer instructions for amenities like Wi-Fi and parking, leading to a good but not excellent score.

Many guests have expressed gratitude for the thoughtful welcome gifts, including wine and biscuits, which added to their experience. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are at the discretion of the host and may not be a consistent offering for all stays.

Parking can be an issue as limited space’s opposite the cottage. Negatives: bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied, the toilet seat was loose which would have been evident on the handover cleaning was left for us to fix it before use. The living room needs nets at the window as people walk past and look in. The front bedroom needs curtains to block out the street light. The information folder needs updating ie no information about bins or recycling. Menu in folder dated 2017! Cleaning could be better ie greasy cooker top, grill pan and tins. If these small details were addressed it could be a lovely place to stay but at present you don’t go on holiday to fix toilets seats and wash items before you can use them. The welcome pack was a nice touch and a surprise.

Everything you need is on your doorstep, shops bars & restaurants I would definitely stay in Guisborough again. The cottage itself was good, it was pretty basic and lacked a few home comforts, no lamps downstairs so very bright in the evenings, and no dressing table anywhere which made getting dressed a problem. Other than that it was clean & comfortable had a great TV, and the welcome pack was nice. Parking is an issue as only a small on street area to park in so if u go out for the day u may have an issue when you return. There was also lack of information in the cottage, no instructions for bins or when collection day was, no information on alternative parking which would have been handy. All in all we enjoyed our stay, Guisborough is great and for the price White Cottage is fine if your happy with a more basic accommodation. Would I stay again? Probably as a last minute booking.
