I had a lovely stay at the Forge with my furry friend. The location was lovely and really ideal. Surrounded by open fields and not too far from multiple beaches. We visited Whitby, Saltburn and Redcar. Nearby shops only 5 minutes. Really peaceful location too 🤩

Clean, cosy well laid out accommodation, tiny but equipped for a couple or solo traveller wanting to explore the area. Country walks straight out the door. Small / medium size dog friendly (large dogs may struggle with living space) - the garden is not enclosed, but the whole accommodation is set on a farm in a rural setting, so felt safe letting him out for the bed time toilet. Wifi fine. Microwave doubles as an oven for those cooking. Caretaker Sue is onhand, prompt and really helpful. The place could use some hooks as nowhere to hang coats / wet stuff, but we managed using doors. 2 ft brick walls ensure peace and quiet. Central location for exploring a beautiful area, don't miss the fabulous Skinningrove beach. Felt 5 days wasn't long enough, so would definitely return.

We stayed at the Lodge in the middle of November 2025 and found it a really cosy warm welcoming cottage after lovely walks with our dog. The cottage is set in a nice little spot and the neighbours were really nice and friendly which made our stay even better. Skinningrove beach is just a short drive away and benefits from a free carpark if you ask anyone they will point you to it. We have visited Yorkshire about five times and must say the locals are so friendly and helpful such nice people.
