A lovely, stone-built, mid-terrace cottage on a working livestock farm in the rural hamlet of Milton, two miles from Brampton. The result of careful, thoughtful conversion of old farm buildings, this Milton cottage retains much charm, with original beams and exposed stonework. This welcoming Milton cottage features a cosy sitting room with attached summer room, a lovely spot to sit and admire the pretty views, a small modern kitchen, and a delightful main bedroom. An ideal romantic retreat, this Milton cottage is further enhanced by the decked balcony, where guests can enjoy views of the countryside, or watch the world go by. A great base to relax, unwind and enjoy this historic area, the market town of Brampton, the North Pennines and majestic Hadrian's Wall. Note: This cottage is next to Refs. 3738, 4585, 917515, 922499, 931769 and 941220, 949797 together they sleep 30.
Ideally placed for exploring northern Cumbria, the little hamlet of Milton is set close to numerous attractions including Hadrians Wall, the Solway Firth and the Lake District National Park. With a rich and colourful history, the market town of Brampton dates back to the Roman occupation, and boasts evidence of Scottish border raids and the Jacobite uprising. Apparently, even Bonnie Prince Charlie was a fan of the town, establishing his headquarters in what is now a shop. Just a few miles away is the Talkin Tarn Country Park. Covering 180 acres, the Tarn - a 10,000 year old glacial lake - accounts for 65 acres and is fed by underwater springs. Slightly further south, visitors can take a trip to Gelt Woods - an ancient woodland set along the banks of the River Gelt.

The hot tub was not switched on until I telephoned about key collection the night before arrival so was unable to use until the day after my arrival, also it was broke (cold) later in the week . Also wi fi was very poor That said the cottage was very comfortable, clean and well maintained.

I agree with a previous review that it definitely needs coat hooks as you walk in; no where to hang your wet outdoor gear. Small kitchen, as expected. Very spacious bedroom. Mattress was comfy but the pillows and duvet were flat, and I didnât like the lacy cover and pillow cases, bit old fashioned. You canât beat feather pillows and 100% crisp, white cotton bedding. I couldnât get the shower to work, but there is plenty of hot water for a deep bath, although it takes a while to fill. The handheld shower attachment to the bath has barely any pressure, just a trickle. I didnât particularly notice the noise from the trains, however, the road seems to have loud vehicles very early in the mornings. The overall decor isnât to my preference, but I knew what to expect from the photos. I attempted to walk to the local village/shops, but it was unpleasant cause there are no pavements, however, this is expected in the countryside. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I enjoyed sitting in the conservatory with a glass of wine in the late afternoons.
