One of a small group of glamping pods set within the Old Rectory’s former paddock, this bijou bolthole is less than 200 metres from the Bowness-on-Solway shoreline. Complete with a welcoming pub, café and tea room, the village sits at the western end of the world-famous Hadrian’s Wall Path and Hadrian's Cycleway. Enjoy expansive vistas across the water and into Scotland as you walk, or explore the nearby nature reserves which are home to a wealth of birds and wildlife – the Solway Coast National Landscape is a haven of peace beneath beautiful big skies. Drive 16 miles cross-country to the Victorian seaside town of Silloth for a great selection of independent shops and eateries, or 21 miles to Gretna Green – synonymous with weddings at its famous Blacksmith’s Forge. En route, Carlisle (14 miles) is Cumbria’s capital city. Packed with places to eat and drink, a vibrant selection of shops and historic sites, it is also the terminus for the renowned Settle-Carlisle Railway.
