Woodpecker Cottage receives high praise for its peaceful rural setting, spacious and immaculate interiors, and dog-friendly amenities. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and the bonus of en suite bathrooms. The location is ideal for exploring the Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall, and the Solway Coast. Thoughtful touches such as welcome packs are frequently mentioned, though not guaranteed. Minor suggestions include the addition of a washing machine, blackout curtains, and some extra kitchen items. Overall, guests consistently enjoy a relaxing and memorable stay, with many planning to return.

Cleanliness is repeatedly highlighted, with guests describing the cottage as spotless, immaculate, and very well maintained. Only one minor mention of a hard bed and a small issue with sink plugs, but these did not detract from the overall impression.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful countryside, and convenient access to the Lake District, Carlisle, and local attractions. Guests enjoy the rural setting and proximity to walking routes and tourist spots.

Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with cosy beds, a warm atmosphere, and spacious rooms. The property is also noted as being suitable for those with limited mobility. A few minor suggestions for improvement, such as a larger sofa and blackout curtains, were mentioned.

Facilities are generally excellent, with well-equipped kitchens, en suite bathrooms, and secure gardens for dogs. Some guests noted the absence of a washing machine and a few kitchen items, and one instance of a non-working dishwasher, but these were minor compared to the overall satisfaction.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome packs with wine, milk, biscuits, and fruit. While these gestures are frequently mentioned, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The Welcome Pack was extremely welcome after a long drive. Very suitable for those less mobile, we enjoyed the beautiful peaceful setting, and watching the hares playing in the evening.

Had all the essentials for our stay. Considering it’s on a working dairy farm it was very peaceful and quiet. Only about a 10 minute drive to nearby village where there is a coop and a couple of restaurants, the fish and chip shop was great too. My only downside was I found the bed to be a bit hard, otherwise you would have got 5 stars. However that being said it would not put me off hiring this cottage again as it is a great base for the Lake District, Yorkshire moors and dales, and even up into Scotland.

Lovely country setting on working dairy farm; good base for touring that part of the country by car. **The Owners allow guests to witness milkings as well as walk the farm, so if you haven't had the opportunity to see where milk comes from, this opportunity is highly recommended!!** The owners seemed very pleasant and friendly on the occasion we had a chat. A basic 'Welcome pack' of milk and biscuits was provided; tea, coffee, and sugar were also supplied.
