I had such an amazing time at Rose Cottage. It was my little home from home. I called it The Little House on the Prairie - my colleagues at work were all jealous! It was big enough for me (I was on my own but would easily have accommodated a small family). The bed was very comfy, the log burner an absolute joy and the position was just perfect. A morning cuppa overlooking the field with the sea in the background was just idyllic. There are plenty of great places to eat locally and within a 20 minute drive. The beach at St Bees was the nearest but further afield was Seascale and a beautiful beach further north (i can't remember the name but ask locally - the locals know the area and decent places to visit).I found everyone very genuine and friendly - even the local pub (O'Hallorans) recognised me when I went back for a second visit. I'd like to book a retreat here every year for the next 10 years please?!

Rose Cottage is everything I'd hoped it would be. This lovely little house is warm and welcoming - the host left the lamps on and had set the heating so that it was lovely and warm when I arrived. It's the perfect size for me - just enough room to spread out and also be cozy. I love the log burner fire and the endless supply of logs is a bonus! The decor is beautiful and very well done. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom, newly renovated, had everything I needed. The cottage is close to the main road for easy transport access but far enough away that there is very little noise. Whitehaven is just a short drive away and the beach at St Bees is close by for a bracing walk (I did stay in February and March) and a delightful lunch at the beach cafe. The rest of the Lake District is not far away for plenty of options for days out and there are many good, local restaurants that have been recommended within a few miles. All in all, I had a fantastic stay here whilst on business but would love to come back for a holiday and a break away from 'regular life'.
