Private parking for 1 car. No smoking.. This charming, semi-detached holiday property is tucked away in a quiet street in heart of the old part of the historic town of Millom. There are many visitor attractions in the area such as the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton, Muncaster Castle and Gardens, the miniature steam railway at Ravenglass, Coniston Water and the western Lakeland Fells. Enjoy the coastal and hill walks from the door. Black Combe, one of Wainwright’s ‘breathtaking views’, is well worth the climb, the summit cairn of which can be seen from one of the bedrooms in clear weather. Fishing, water skiing, golf and pony trekking nearby. Shop ½ mile, pub ⅓ mile and restaurant ¼ mile.

Lovely place to stay, everything we needed was there to feel homely. Quiet location so slept well. Easy walk down to the train station, under 10 mins which allowed us easy transportation along the coastline. Managed to complete the England coast path from Green Road up to Silloth using the cottage as a base, only needed to take the car out once.

My late wife & I spent 32 years staying in various cottages & I have spent the last 3 going solo & I would put Combe Cairn in the top three or four properties over that time & certainly the best in the Lake District.It has everything you need for a week (or more) & you can leave the kitchen sink at home. I just wish I had known this in advance😀 but is not always the case.I travelled in early Jan & the property was lovely & warm on arrival & throughout my stay. Certainly much warmer than my own place.Millom has most things you would need on a daily basis & Whitehaven isn't too far away if you've really come on holiday to walk around shops.It is a perfect base for visiting Wastwater for Scafel etc as well as the Western Lakes in general without having to negotiate "the passes", many of which get closed during winter anyway.I wouldn't normally give 5 stars because nothing is ever perfect (including Combe Cairn) but perfection is subjective & four stars would be too low & there is no way to split the difference. Probably 4.8 would be closer.I am looking to relocate to the area & would happily stay here again during my search.Highly reccomended.
