About this property

This two bedroomed, duplex apartment is a real treat, situated on a quiet residential road, high above the Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands and with views across the estuary to the hills of Arnside and Silverdale to die for. The property is accessed down a short flight of steps and through the pretty rear cottage garden. Freshly decorated and furnished throughout, the sitting room and dining room in particular make the most of the glorious light flooding through the large bay windows overlooking the well-manicured cottage gardens. The kitchen is lovely and light with a range of superb fixtures and fittings for your convenience.

The shower room has a walk-in shower cubicle and is a lovely, clean and bright room. A simply delightful bedroom on the ground floor overlooks the pretty front garden and has a beautiful original Edwardian fireplace along with an extra-long double bed. Descending to the lower ground floor, we pass through the snug and past the cool pantry/larder and into the second bedroom which features a king-size and doors onto the serene patio, surrounded by the beautifully tended gardens. Grange-over-Sands is a peaceful Edwardian seaside town, with a car-free promenade along the shore to the ornamental lake. It really is a lovely place to spend time at any time of the year, and don’t worry, if the weather is inclement there are plenty of cafés serving delicious food and refreshments.

The railway station is a short stroll away from where you can catch a regular service over the viaduct and estuary to Arnside, famous for its ‘Knott’ and beautiful walks. Cartmel is near too, where you can enjoy the peace of the 12th century priory, or a flutter on the horses at the racecourse on one of the race weekends each year, or simply take in the atmosphere. The southern tip of the Lake District really has some magnificent places to visit; Sizergh Castle and Gardens near Kendal is owned and managed by the National Trust, as is Fell Foot Park and Gardens on the shore of Windermere.

Holker Hall is just down the road as is Levens Hall with the famous topiary garden. For those who like it a little racier, the Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow has an exciting collection of cars, cycles, motorcycles and automobilia. All-in-all, a delightful place to stay and from which to explore this fascinating and beautiful area.

The Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is between the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. It has a promenade, ornamental gardens, golf courses, and bird watching. Lake Windermere is nearby, while Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead are also worth a look.
