The coastal resorts of Arnside and Grange are worth a visit, whilst the pretty town of Cartmel - with its famous annual horse race meetings - offers plenty to see. Lake Windermere and the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead are only a short drive away and still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many visitors. Of course this great view is available only because one is on the hillside. But my sister and I are 74 and we managed the walk up and down teh hill quite easily. We found Grange over Sands to be a delightful little place. there is a lovely walk along the esplanade - all on the flat: but for the adventurous there is a great hike up to Hampsfell Hospice, which is not too strenuous. The apartment itself is generally well equipped. It has a new kitchen and the bathroom is comapct but a good shower once the temperature has settled. The bed is uncomfortable, as one is very aware of the springs,, but otherwise we were very satisfied with everything.

Apartment was spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed. We enjoyed the view from the living room window, particularly the constantly changing light. The walk back from town is steep, but we are 70 ish year olds and did not find it too bad

I stayed for a long period of time and they kindly offered for the cleaners to come and change the linen weekly which was brilliant. Had a slight issue with the plumbing leaking into the flat downstairs but that all got sorted out, with good communication and a visit from a plumber. The armchairs in the living room were very comfy, the sofa slightly less so but that wasnât an issue for me. There was no WiFi (as advertised) which was alright but the signal is patchy. Lovely views from the windows looking out onto the sea and very pretty gardens, even saw a deer running through them a couple of times.
