Some guests noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but these were not the majority. The thoughtful touches by the owners, such as welcome gifts, were also highlighted.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, a few reviews mentioned issues with cleanliness, such as cobwebs and dust, which slightly lowers the score.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its tranquillity and beautiful surroundings, with easy access to local attractions. The single-track access road was noted by some as challenging but did not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with good furnishings and a cosy atmosphere. Some guests mentioned the sofas being too soft and issues with the layout for families with young children, which slightly affects the score.
The property is well-equipped for a self-catering holiday, with guests appreciating the kitchen and outdoor facilities. Some guests suggested updates and additional crockery and cutlery, indicating room for improvement in this area.
The owners' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating welcome gestures such as Easter eggs and fresh flowers. While these gifts are warmly received, it's important to note they are not guaranteed for every stay.
Kendal 5 miles. A delightful detached, stone-built cottage located on the Lakeland Fells, in the tiny hamlet of Lambrigg, just five miles from Kendal. Nestling within the original home farm of Moresdale Hall Estate, this Kendal cottage was once a farmworker's cottage and stable buildings and sits within eight acres of the owners' grounds. This Kendal cottage has an upside down accommodation layout, with the living area on the first floor featuring a sitting room with a warm and cosy woodburning stove, a farmhouse-style kitchen with dining area, and an adjoining main bedroom with en-suite and patio doors, which provide access to the lawned garden and views of the Howgill Fells.
The ground floor consists of an entrance hall, two further bedrooms and a bathroom. Full of character and charm throughout, the comfy accommodation, exposed stone walls and original roof beams all go together to provide guests with an ideal holiday home. The woodland area surrounding this Kendal cottage supports a wide variety of birds, animals and plants, including deer and badgers. There are many walks in the area and a favourite is the ascent of Lambrigg Fell via Moresdale Tarn to a height of just over 1000 feet above sea level, which offers panoramic views of the Lake District Mountains, the Pennines and Morecambe Bay.
The Dalesway long distance footpath runs through the grounds and this can be followed in either direction to the Lune Valley or towards the terminus at Windermere. For those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy a true Lakeland holiday, then this Kendal cottage is the one for you.
Kendal is set on the banks of the River Kent offering old cobbled lanes and byways, ruins of a 12th Century castle, The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, shops and pubs. Close by is Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, plus there are walking routes in the area.

The cottage was very comfortable, warm, and had everything needed for a self catering holiday. The owners were lovely and friendly. We would definitely like to stay again.

Friendly owners and quiet spot. Unfortunately the property wasnât particularly clean upon arrival, presumably due to the cleaner not being very thorough. We had to keep âboostingâ certain heaters as they were set to 14 degrees set back temperature - downstairs felt very cold and damp upon arrival - even though it was July. The table in the kitchen is quite a tight squeeze for 6 people. Some redecoration throughout and a good clean is probably needed, along with adjusting the heater settings to make it more comfortable.

A lovely cosy cottage in a secluded spot. A great place to return to and relax. Robert and Helen are happy to help! Everything was spotless. Thank you for a great holiday!
