Guests say

Half Island House is a well-received cottage, praised for its tranquil setting, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped kitchen. Its location offers easy access to walking routes and is ideal for exploring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere and the soothing sounds of the nearby stream.

The cottage is generally regarded as clean and tidy, with comfortable beds and a well-stocked kitchen. However, some guests noted minor issues with exterior maintenance that did not significantly impact their stay.

The property's location is highly valued for its quietness and proximity to walking trails and local attractions. The presence of a nearby motorway is noted, but it does not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Guests find the cottage cosy and tranquil, with comfortable rooms and a relaxing streamside setting. The beds are particularly commended for their comfort.

The cottage is well-furnished with modern kitchen amenities, though some guests were unable to find the advertised washing machine. The shared garden and difficulty locating the keysafe were points of contention for some.

While guests mention a lack of a welcome pack and limited instructions for appliances, there is no mention of gifts, hence the score cannot be determined.

Paintwork at the front. Paper peeling off in rooms, damp patches, curtains hanging down. Dirty behind the shutters. A cracked window pane, condensation on windows,a leaky kettle. The hamper would have been lovely but all out of date. had to go out and buy cleaning products. Under the sofa there was a dog ball. Down the sofa there was sweet wrappers and choc wrappers. Went to have a bbq and it was just dirty. This place could be lovely. The beds were so comfy and it's set in a beautiful location Just needed some loving brought back to it.

The cottage has everything you need, a well stocked kitchen with every utensil you can think of, comfy beds, places to relax, a selection of books and games to play and lovely views. It has a real home from home feel. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We loved the feel of the cottage, cosy and decorated very well. Log burning fire in main living area and electric in the den living quarter. My main draw was the streams that run alongside the cottage itself, absolutely beautiful, with the heavy rain they were noisy but with the UPVC windows meant only slight sounds from within. Nearby Sedbergh is a beautiful little town with cute shops and we went on a walk as mentioned in the cottage (along with other walking guides) which was Sedbergh nature walk. Top tips that other travellers mentioned on this site were useful - yes you do need to bring your own logs, hand wash for bathrooms and only 2 toilet rolls supplied. Basics were in hand such as tea, coffee and biscuits. I would definitely stay again and we enjoyed our stay so much.
