Guests say

Fenham Barn is highly praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and suitability for large groups, offering a rural retreat ideal for family gatherings, cycling holidays, and get-togethers. The lack of Wi-Fi and poor phone signal is noted, yet the property's well-stocked kitchen, warm rooms, and ample parking are appreciated. Its location near Kirkby Stephen provides scenic charm and convenience.

Reviewers consistently mention the property being very clean and well-maintained, indicating high standards of cleanliness.

The property's rural setting is appreciated for its tranquility, though the lack of amenities in the immediate vicinity and Wi-Fi is noted. Its proximity to Kirkby Stephen and scenic areas adds to its appeal.

Guests find the barn comfortable, with big warm rooms, comfy beds, and a cozy log burner. The spacious living areas are well-received for relaxation and socializing.

The property is equipped with a well-stocked kitchen, BBQ, and sufficient bathroom facilities. However, the absence of Wi-Fi and variable phone reception is a drawback for some.

While guests express satisfaction with the property's offerings, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the host, so a score cannot be given.

We had a wonderful time, thank you! It served our needs perfectly and we would definitely recommend. We were warm and very comfortable. Six children between us and it was perfect for our families. Our only 'very easy to fix' feedback, was just to cut the branches back from the sign! We arrived in a storm, pitch black, in the rain - the next day in the daylight we could see that the directions were helpful, but without any lights inside already on nor any lights outside the accommodation, with the sign covered by branches, it was actually tricky to find. But that's it, just a tweak!

We knew the area well and for a group of cyclists this was a fantastic base. 2.4 miles from Kirkby Stephen with bars, restaurants and shops, the village of Soulby, where the house is, has no amenities at all. Add to that the lack of wi-fi at the property and it is a real rural retreat. Big warm rooms, plenty of showers, space to park bikes, it was ideal for what we wanted. Maggie made room in the shed for our bikes and was helpful in being a bit flexible about check - in. Log burner in upstairs lounge was great, kitchen was well stocked with pans / utensils and crockery and so as we were self catering, it was really good. Phone signal poor in parts of the house. Local tips: the nearest Methodist chapel (100m) has stained glass by William Morris, The Club in Kirkby Stephen is a great place for a drink and meeting the locals - especially if the football or rugby team have been playing. Kirkby Stephen rail station (about 4 miles from property) has links to Leeds and Carlisle as well as being on the scenic Settle - Carlisle line.
