Guests have had a delightful experience at Greystones, praising its stunning location, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped facilities. The cottage's character and thoughtful touches, such as a welcome pack and dog-friendly amenities, have been appreciated. The local pubs and scenic walks add to the charm, despite minor issues with an out-of-date item and nearby construction work.
There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score.
The location is consistently described as stunning, with quiet roads for walks, three accessible pubs, and fantastic views. The proximity to Kirkby Stephen is convenient, and the surrounding area is appreciated for its tranquility.
Guests find the beds comfortable, and the presence of a log burner and a summerhouse adds to the overall comfort. The uneven floor in the main bedroom is a minor drawback mentioned.
The cottage is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, BBQ, and a powerful shower. However, there is a note about the shower being a bit too hot and construction work affecting the stay, which slightly impacts the score.
The welcome pack and provisions for dogs demonstrate thoughtfulness. However, the mention of out-of-date biscuits suggests a need for attention to detail. It should be noted that while gifts are mentioned, their inclusion in future stays is not guaranteed.

The cottage was quaint and quirky with a well equipped kitchen and utility room. The living room was comfortable and characterful. The bedrooms were spacious and the large bed comfortable. The bathroom didn’t match the same luxury as it was very cramped and the shower screen leaked. Unfortunately the log burner stove was out of action during our visit which wouldn’t have been a problem if the heating had been easier to use. There were not enough instructions leading us to being unable to override the timer that was set leading the cottage initially to be very cold until eventually after contacting the owner we were given advice that allowed us to be warmer. Negotiating the path to the garden was an adventure but this was probably because we were there in late autumn. I’m sure it would be glorious in the summer. For people who want to explore the lakes and the dales in the spring and summer it would be a great place to base yourselves but other than the 2 pubs in the village you would need to drive to otheramenities

Oh wow, what a wonderful cottage in a stunning location!! This place has everything you could possibly need to holiday in comfort, a dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine and even some books on the shelf at the top of the stairs! The sofas and bed are comfortable and the bed linen feels really high quality from what I am used to haha. The log burner is a wonderful addition we loved being able to use this at night time. We were left with a super helpful welcome pack and there are lots of interesting books about the village alongside ample choice of walks in the guidebook, on separate printed printed paper and in the cupboard in the front room. When we arrived there was a generous selection of treats for human and dog, shortbread biscuits, a bottle of Prosecco and some Lily’s kitchen dog treats and we all enjoyed them, thank you! Towels and throws were provided for the dogs though we didn’t use them as we always have our own! I really loved the gesture though. Towels are also provided but, again, we used our own - minus the tea towels! I was over the moon with how easy it was to cook in the kitchen, and we even used the BBQ one night for some chicken tikka masala 😋 I adored spending time in the summerhouse, though there was rain for the latter half of our holiday unfortunately. The view from the summerhouse is gorgeous, we all loved it, dogs included! There are so many walks to choose from, though we stayed on roads for mobility issues, the roads are quiet enough to do so. We turned right outside the cottage and at the bottom of the road we turned left onto Townhead Lane, left again at the fat lamb onto a683 and then left again along low lane all the way back to the Black Swan - this was our lush morning walk. There are three pubs within walking distance but due to affordability on our part we only ate out once and at The Black Swan, the food is delicious and of a high standard as is the service! They have a beer garden too which is enclosed is so is perfect for dogs! There is no shop in Ravenstonedale, the nearest is Kirkby Stephen which is less than 10 minutes drive. The garden is a tiny walk away from the cottage but this is not a problem for us, be careful with dogs in the garden as if your dog has a high prey drive then the low walls won’t stop them as there are livestock all around. This 17th century building is gorgeous and a real treat to be able to use for a holiday, the decoration is stunning and the what I think is the original woodwork really adds to the character. Shower, awesome - though is a little hot, I think you can use the middle dial to cool it down. I loved this cottage and location so much that we are going to come back again next year. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful home! Hannah, Rob and dogs Ludo and Nova 🐶 x
