Outside, the enclosed garden is a true highlight—private, not overlooked, and boasting uninterrupted views across the surrounding countryside, perfect for relaxing in peaceful surroundings.

Surrounded by the unspoilt beauty of the Eden Valley, Lazonby offers a peaceful yet enriching escape for the discerning holidaymaker. The village itself is a hidden gem, with a local shop and scenic riverside walks along the River Eden, perfect for gentle exploration or more adventurous hikes.
A true highlight is the much-loved Lazonby Outdoor Swimming Pool, a heated open-air pool set beside the river. With its relaxed atmosphere, picnic areas and family-friendly facilities, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a countryside walk or enjoy a leisurely afternoon in the sun.

We stayed at the cottage for our family holiday and absolutely loved it! The cottage is nicely decorated and has a really warm and cosy feel. The garden overlooks a field, and although there isn’t a direct door from the cottage to the garden, this didn’t bother us at all. The garden is also gated, so our dog could have a good run around.Our girls really enjoyed swimming at the local swimming pool, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the cottage. There is also a local park for children nearby. We loved going for walks along the river too.There is a pub about a 20-minute walk from the cottage, and they serve food from Thursdays. We also visited Ullswater Lake, which is about half an hour away by car. There are lots of lovely walks in the surrounding area.We would definitely recommend this place and would happily stay here again!

Inside the cottage was fine but access to the garden was a problem as there was only 1 external door which led directly onto the street with a very busy road and then the gate to the garden was at the side of the property you couldn't see anyone when they were in the garden from inside the property which is a big safety issue for pets and children

River View Cottage was in a lovely location and very well equipped. The cottage was spotlessly clean. Our only issue was that we were there at the start of the week and a lot of local pubs didn’t serve food til the weekend. But we managed by nice lunches - it’s very handy being on the Settle to Carlisle railway as well.We would go back but perhaps over a weekend. Highly recommended.
