About this property

Kirkby House is a stunning mid-terrace mews in the scenic town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria. Kirkby House is the ideal base for couples, small groups, or families to explore the quaint old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and its surrounding villages. It’s also just a short distance from the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Pull up outside the house to unload your bags; there is a parking pass in the house for the adjacent car park on New Road with additional free parking on the main road B6254. As you walk in the house there’s a useful utility/boot room, so you can easily store your shoes and coats away from the rest of the house. There’s a washing machine and an additional fridge in here too. The kitchen/diner has everything you need for a self-catering stay. Once a delicious dinner has been cooked, bring it to the dining table or the breakfast bar and enjoy a wonderful meal alongside the glow of the woodburning stove. After dinner, head upstairs to a relaxing sitting room with plenty of seating for you to stretch out on as you watch a show on the Smart TV. Move across the first floor to find two of the three fabulous bedrooms which inhabit the mews, the first of which is a king-size with access to a stunning, underfloor heated en-suite bathroom. The other is a twin with access to a sizeable shower room; both rooms contain zip/linked beds for additional convenience. Ascend the stairs once more to uncover the last bedroom, which is a king-size with contemporary furniture and vaulted ceilings, as well as access to an en-suite shower room; the perfect space for those after a little privacy. The property is completed by a convenient cloakroom on the ground level! Kirkby Lonsdale is known for its wealth of eateries, wine bars, real ale brewery and shops. All of which are just a stone’s throw from Kirkby House. There are plenty of short walks from the house including the circular stroll which is suitable for prams to historic Devil's Bridge. Travel a short way to Ingleton, a town that offers access to the famous Ingleton Waterfall, the mountain and caverns of Ingleborough, as well as treks along the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail. Alternatively, you can travel to the outskirts of the Lake District, where the market town of Kendal offers a variety of activities, such as walks along The Helm, with its wide range of plants and Fell ponies, the KendWall Climbing Centre, for those seeking some exhilaration, and a local museum offering fantastic exhibits. Aside from the adjacent National Parks, which provide a variety of walks and watersports, the Forest of Bowland and the beaches of Arnside & Silverdale, both of which are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are also conveniently accessible. Choose Kirkby House for an unforgettable holiday.

Kirkby Lonsdale is a charming market town in the middle of the Lune Valley, halfway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and has a Market Charter from the 13th century. Today, Thursday is market day, providing an excellent chance for tourists to explore the town's unique individual stores as well as the numerous 17th and 18th century structures that still survive.

Milking parlour for ice cream and Botanica for brunch/lunch were fabulous. River walk loop is great for walking dog, although the lack of even a tiny bit of grass for first thing in the morning and last thing at night was a challenge in the rain and no lazy/relaxing starts to the day! A few walks direct from the village, although the saturated ground made these very muddy. A drying rack to hang washing would be appreciated and an updated waste collection calendar useful. The money towards parking after the parking pass expired was appreciated. Lovely holiday enjoyed by all. Oh, and don’t forget frequent trips to the Brewery which is dog friendly and also does coffee and cake. Market on Thursdays and proper hot chocolate from the chocolate shop.

! Parking close by and easy access to drop luggage at front door. Bathrooms are gorgeous! Beds very comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Only one niggle .. we booked two weeks before coming and I contacted Sykes in the requested manner to ask that the twin room be made up as a double (as was stated in the description it could be). Sykes said this would be passed on to owner but was made up as a twin. Not the end of the world but just wanted to let you know.

It has everything you could possibly need and is comfortable, tasteful and spacious. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Bathrooms and kitchen are beautifully fitted and towels and bed linens are of a high quality. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and it was warm and cosy. The dog treats, dog bowls, biscuits, tea coffee etc. were much appreciated, as was the car parking permit. We really loved our stay and would definitely like to return.
