Bankside is a beautifully renovated cottage in the picturesque village of Parwich, offering high-quality finishes, comfortable beds, and stunning views. Guests praise its peaceful location, proximity to scenic walks and a welcoming local pub, and the well-equipped interiors. While the driveway and access road are narrow and may challenge larger vehicles, most found this a minor inconvenience. Some noted minor cleaning and maintenance issues, and a few would have appreciated extra pillows or basic welcome items. Overall, Bankside provides a charming and relaxing base for exploring the Peak District.
Most guests found the cottage very clean and well-presented, though a few mentioned issues such as crumbs on arrival, a dirty oven, and some mould in a bathroom. These were exceptions rather than the norm.
The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and access to walks, local attractions, and a friendly village pub. The only drawback is the narrow, steep access road, which may be tricky for larger vehicles.
Guests consistently mention comfortable beds, warm interiors, and a cosy atmosphere. Some would have liked extra or better pillows, and the bedrooms are noted as compact but well-designed.
The cottage is well-equipped with modern kitchens, ensuite bathrooms, and a log burner. A few guests noted minor maintenance issues (e.g., oven seal, extractor fan, cleaning equipment), but overall facilities are highly rated.
Some guests appreciated a welcome bottle of Prosecco, but basic items like tea, coffee, or milk were not always provided. Please note that gifts such as Prosecco are not guaranteed.

Situated in the very heart of the lovely old village of Parwich, it boasts a delightful pub set on picturesque village green with a church, village hall, playground and many pretty cottages. Parwich dates back to the Saxon times and has an air of peace and tranquillity about it. The local pub is a traditional country pub in the serving cask ales and delicious home cooked food. Not only is it a pub, but should you require your groceries, it serves as the village shop. The nearby Manifold River cuts a course through superb scenery and is a delight for both walkers and cyclists, with the ’Manifold Trail’ following the route of the old Leek to Manifold Light Railway.
Nearby is the pretty village of Ilam, the award-winning village of Alstonefield, and Brassington, while golf, horse riding, cycling and sailing are all available within 7 miles. There are so many days out to enjoy such as Alton Towers, or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Kedleston and Sudbury Halls. Also within easy reach are Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, while further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek. This really is the perfect place to stay to enjoy an abundance of things to see and do.

A wonderful property which was immaculate inside and out. The village itself is lovely with the local pub very welcoming. The access path to the property is narrow so much larger SUV’s may struggle to get to the parking area.

Beautiful cottage in a delightful village location. Walks from the door to villages in the Peak District. Disappointed that the welcome pack was a bottle of Prosecco with no tea coffee or milk.Bedrooms small but very modern. Main issue was the very steep road up to the cottage. Difficult to get a large vehicle up easily.Great value for money.
