Bankside is a beautifully renovated cottage in the picturesque village of Parwich, praised for its high-quality finishes, cosy living spaces, and comfortable beds. The location offers great views, with easy access to local attractions and walks. Guests appreciate the welcoming touches like a bottle of prosecco and the proximity to a friendly pub with good food. Some concerns about narrow access and maintenance issues are noted, but overall, guests are highly satisfied and often express a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, though there were isolated reports of crumbs on worktops, a dirty oven, and mould in bathrooms. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its beautiful views, proximity to a local pub, and access to walking routes. The narrow and steep access road is a concern for some, but does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the living spaces cosy. Some guests mentioned the need for better pillows and the small size of bedrooms, but these comments are relatively minor.
The cottage is well-equipped with high-quality fixtures, though some guests reported issues with heating, Wi-Fi, and maintenance of the oven and showers. The presence of a log burner and the provision of wood are positives.
While guests mentioned receiving a bottle of prosecco upon arrival, as gifts are not consistently referenced across reviews, it is not possible to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gestures are appreciated but not guaranteed.

Situated in the very heart of the lovely old village of Parwich, it boasts a delightful pub set on picturesque village green with a church, village hall, playground and many pretty cottages. Parwich dates back to the Saxon times and has an air of peace and tranquillity about it. The local pub is a traditional country pub in the serving cask ales and delicious home cooked food. Not only is it a pub, but should you require your groceries, it serves as the village shop. The nearby Manifold River cuts a course through superb scenery and is a delight for both walkers and cyclists, with the ’Manifold Trail’ following the route of the old Leek to Manifold Light Railway.
Nearby is the pretty village of Ilam, the award-winning village of Alstonefield, and Brassington, while golf, horse riding, cycling and sailing are all available within 7 miles. There are so many days out to enjoy such as Alton Towers, or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Kedleston and Sudbury Halls. Also within easy reach are Matlock Bath and Carsington Water, while further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek. This really is the perfect place to stay to enjoy an abundance of things to see and do.

A beautifully renovated cottage with amazing finishes. My wife and I stayed here with our 15 month old and our dog and we loved how clean and new everything seems. The kitchen and living room are lovely spaces. The bedrooms are on the small side, but nicely decorated with comfy beds and both have ensuites. Parwich is a lovely village, and we loved going for a walk past the goats and chickens on the way to the Sycamore Inn pub where it was warm and cosy to enjoy a pint and some dinner. We kept our driving to around 10-30 minutes from the village and found plenty of places to visit including National Trust houses and walking spots. The driveway is very tight to access, so requires someone calm behind the wheel. Although we brought our own baby gate, it was too wide for the stairs, so we had to keep an eye on daughter - but it wasn't a big deal.

Great location & beautiful cottage. Walking distance to a fabulous pub with excellent food. Only negative is a very narrow, steep road up to the cottage but definitely wouldn’t put us off from returning .
