Rock Cottage in Bakewell receives high praise for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and excellent location just a short walk from the town centre. Guests appreciate the pretty views, convenient parking, and well-equipped interior. While the steep stairs and compact parking may not suit everyone, most found these minor issues. The cottage is ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking a peaceful base to explore the Peak District, with thoughtful touches and friendly hosts enhancing the experience.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as spotlessly clean and well-maintained on arrival, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

Guests consistently praise the central yet quiet location, proximity to Bakewell town centre, and beautiful views, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, with a good bed and shower. Some mention steep stairs and a small bed for taller guests, but overall comfort is rated highly.

Facilities are generally well-received, with guests noting good equipment, hot water, and parking. Suggestions for improvement include a larger fridge, dishwasher, table in the living room, and updated microwave.

Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome treats (ice and Bakewell tarts), but please note these are not guaranteed for every stay. Hosts are described as excellent and communicative.

We had a long weekend in Rock Cottage and it was a very good base in Bakewell - just a short walk down the hill to the town centre. We tend to just dump the car and walk everywhere or use the buses - so it didn't matter that the parking spot is a bit tricky for larger cars. The cottage itself is arranged vertically, with one room above another. It's probably not great for anyone with mobility challenges, as the stairs are quite steep and you always seem to be going either up or down. It's well equipped and clean, and the bathroom is good, with a decent shower and plenty of hot water. Some things do need updating - the microwave, for example - and outside could do with sprucing up, but these are minor gripes. We'd be happy to stay here again. There are so many walks, in every direction, you're spoilt for choice. It's an easy walk over to Chatsworth and regular buses back. Haddon Hall is only a mile or two away.Bakewell is full of places to eat - the Woodyard was very good and the Wye Bakery (just up the river) is a superb, hidden gem.
