About this property

A detached 17th century, Grade II listed stone barn conversion in the heart of the beautiful village of Carsington and a 10-minute walk to Carsington Water. This is an ideal property for families and groups and as it’s mostly on the ground floor, suitable for guests who are a little less agile. Tastefully decorated with stone flagged flooring throughout the ground floor and oak flooring in the hayloft and exposed oak trusses, remind you of the building’s historical heritage. The lovely light lounge with double-height roof, incorporates a large farmhouse dining table - perfect for family dining and board games. The modern kitchen has a useful island unit. From the kitchen you step into the beautiful south facing garden with two large dining tables and metal chairs with a large drum BBQ all making for a great garden gathering. There are two double bedrooms and two family rooms on the ground floor with a further family room and double bedroom with en-suite bathroom up in the 'hayloft' with exposed oak trusses. Both of these first floor bedrooms are flooded with light from the velux windows which are all fitted with blackout blinds perfect for a good night's sleep. The village pub is a short stroll away and there are fabulous walks in all directions from Emily Barn. The Northern shore of Carsington Water is 10 minutes' walk away. Carsington Visitor Centre and Carsington Sports & Leisure are 2 miles away where you can kayak, sail, cycle and observe the abundant birdlife. Carsington Water Visitor Centre offers a first floor restaurant overlooking the water and a separate ice cream parlor and coffee shop. Close by are Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall, Haddon Hall and Tissington Hall, along with the market towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne, which is the gateway to Dovedale and the ever-popular Alton Towers. A fantastic cottage for families or groups with so much to offer in the area whatever the season.

The Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. The Heights of Abraham is a great place to visit for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market towns of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park - not to be missed!
