Ideal for a break in the Derbyshire Peak District throughout the seasons. At the ground level you will be greeted via a sunroom into the impressive interior. A cosy sitting area with mezzanine reading area above both with tasteful furnishings, perfect for retiring to when evening draws in. A delightful newly fitted cottage kitchen, leading into the light filled shower room. The stairs lead you to the landing area with seating to enjoy a book or just a view out of the Velux window. The bedroom is light and airy with a double bed to enjoy once a day’s exploring has been completed. Outside is a cottage garden and seating area with furniture to enjoy your morning coffee. Matlock and Matlock Bath are close by, giving the opportunity to explore the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom accessed through a cable car, and offering spectacular views of the Derwent Valley. From here you can tour the network of caverns and passageways or walk over sixty acres of woodland hillside. An ideal base from which to explore the region’s attractions including the magnificent stately homes.
The beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are an absolute must see. Visit the picturesque villages of Bakewell and Ashover both close by. Excellent walking can be found from the doorstep, plus activities at Carsington Water including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and cycling, plus excellent birdwatching in the surrounding areas.

There was a lot of work in the locality and folk just seemed to park anywhere on main entrance road and on a couple of occasions had to find workman to get them to move their van to be able to exit property. Lovely cosy and clean property, kitchen well equipped overall but would benefit with a microwave and a small freezer box in fridge. The hot tap in the shower room was only a drip. Lovely electric shower. The cottage had little natural light apart from in the lovely veranda but this was cold to sit in as October. The bed had a very soft mattress which offered little support and we found very uncomfortable. The bottle of wine was lovely thank you. The garden was very nice with a small raised private patio area. Biggest plus was location as very close to Cromford with lovely canal walk and historic mills and Matlock Bath. There was also a public footpath on the opposite side of the road near White Lion pub which lead directly to Heights of Abraham cable cars (around 15/20 minutes walk) and Matlock Bath itself. Lovely fish shops in Matlock Bath. Also visited beautiful Ashford in the Water and Bakewell to get some tarts (very expensive but nice), I don't particularly like the pudding. Bakewell is close to the Monsal trail (nice walk on old railway line). Close to Carsington water and also Crich Tramway museum which is very interesting.

Absolutely lovely place close to all the attractions and bits and bobs loved the walks in the countries and along the canals and the river great pubs nearby the cottage itself was absolutely adorable like wearing your favourite woolly jumper why it’s giving you a hug on a cold winters evening

Excellent cottage which is very nicely furnished throughout. Comfortable bed, great shower, good WiFi and parking space. Loads of lovely places to visit within easy driving distance. We had a full day at Castleton which is stunning and free parking if you arrive around 9am. It was a wonderful weekend and the weather being so good was an added bonus for October.
