Guests say

Pinfold Cottage is a charming and cosy retreat in a peaceful village setting, ideal for couples seeking a relaxing break in the Peak District. Guests consistently praise its well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, and beautiful views, with many enjoying walks from the doorstep and easy access to Matlock and Bakewell. The cottage is noted for its homely atmosphere and thoughtful touches. While most reviews are highly positive, a few mention minor maintenance issues and occasional concerns about cleanliness. Overall, the cottage offers a delightful base for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, with several describing it as spotless. However, a small number of reviews mention issues such as mould in the bathroom and some worn furnishings, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is frequently highlighted as a major strength, with guests appreciating the quiet village atmosphere, scenic views, and proximity to local attractions and walking routes.

The cottage is widely described as cosy, comfortable, and homely, with particular praise for the bed and lounge area. A few guests noted the stairs may be challenging for some, but overall comfort is rated highly.

Guests found the cottage very well equipped, especially the kitchen and living areas. Some minor issues were noted, such as a small fridge, occasional maintenance needs, and worn bedding, but these were exceptions rather than the rule.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful gestures in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Not so good points:Outside the cottage is so overgrown. Very poor.Parking on opposite side of road to cottage, road not wide, cars speed up and down too fast.Local pub very rarely open.Living room very dark and decor dreary.Tiny fridge in kitchen people need to know about.Couldn’t get top of cooker to work.Drains in sink smelt.Hubby spent 3 days getting the mould off the shower base.Towels supplied not very big.Quilt on bed smaller than the cover, it’s badly worn and very heavy and very lumpy.Furnishings on the balcony old and filthy.Stairs up to bedroom worn out and dangerous.Good points:Good water pressure in shower.Kitchen well equipped.Downstairs toilet a god send.New kitchen so it looks good.Good, clean wardrobe space.I don’t normally leave bad reviews, I just don’t bother doing one but I was so very disappointed, should have been there for 7 nights til the Friday but came home on the Tuesday as its a very oppressive cottage and I wouldn’t want anyone else being disappointed as I was.The photos are not the same as the actual cottage believe me. SoI apologise for being negative.

Really well equipped cottage with a lot of thought put into the design / layout. Lovely seating area outside the upstairs bedroom with views over the fields. The bathroom is ensuite and there is also a bonus cloakroom downstairs. The neighbours were very friendly and welcoming. There is also an old pub in the village, the Duke of York, with original interiors which opens Wed - Sunday around 8.30pm. Worth a visit if you enjoy old pubs and local beer (brewed in the nearby village of Aldwark).

Enjoyable stay at this cute and comfortable cottage. The weather was perfect to enjoy the surrounding peak district. Only downside was the bedding which had seen better days and was a lot larger than the duvet inside and this made the duvet move around and become lumpy.
