Surround yourself in the beauty of the Peak District countryside at this lovely barn conversion in the outskirts of the picturesque village of Castleton. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s perfect for families or groups of friends in search of a tranquil retreat to call home while they explore the Peak District together. Take a gentle stroll into the village of Castleton (0.5 miles) and you’ll find plenty of cafes, shops and pubs. It’s also a great place to join beautiful trails to Winnats Pass (1.5 miles) and Mam Tor (2 miles) or to explore Peveril Castle, which sits high above the village. Alternatively, head to Padley Gorge (8 miles) to hike among its streams, boulders and waterfalls. Or head underground at Speedwell Cavern (0.5 miles) to climb aboard a boat and cruise through the historic mining tunnels.
Step inside your pretty cottage and you’ll be welcomed by an open-plan living/kitchen/diner with traditional country decor, original beams and a cosy wood burner. Head to the farmhouse-style kitchen area to whip up some dinner to share in the smart dining area. Afterwards, head back to the lounge area to catch up on your favourite TV shows. Upstairs you’ll find two lovely bedrooms – a peaceful double with views towards Mam Tor, and a pretty twin with courtyard views. A family bathroom with a stylish freestanding bath and hand-held shower completes the first-floor layout, while a handy wet room serves the ground floor.
Step out into your garden and you’ll hear the gentle soundtrack of the bordering stream, which sets a tranquil tone for your stay (please supervise children and pets). Get everyone together for a leisurely BBQ dinner while you soak up the country views. Private parking is available for two cars.
