Mushroom Cottage is a cosy and quaint property with stunning views, well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Its location is ideal for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to local amenities and trails. The cottage's charm is noted, particularly its suitability for couples, although the spiral staircase may limit accessibility for some. Guests have enjoyed peaceful stays and praised the proximity to Castleton and scenic walks.
Most guests found the cottage to be comfortable and cosy, but there were some concerns about cleanliness, such as sticky surfaces, unclean pottery, and outdoor seating. These issues were not widespread among reviews, suggesting they may not be consistent problems.

The cottage is described as cosy and comfortable, particularly the bed. However, some guests mentioned issues with the shower and the early check-out time. The spiral staircase was noted as a potential discomfort for those with mobility issues.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being well-equipped for its size. However, there were reports of maintenance issues such as a non-sealing toilet cistern, a sticky kitchen worktop, and a constantly running fan. These issues suggest room for improvement in maintenance.

This is a delightful cottage for a short get away for two. Set in the stunning Derbyshire countryside and just a short walk from the beautiful village of Castleton. The cottage has everything you need for a weekend self catering. Although please note the access the second floor is via a steep spiral stair case, so good mobility is required. If I had one gripe, and it’s minor, it would be the 9am departure time seems a little early!especially for a weekend stay when nowhere is open at 9am on a Sunday. We have stayed here before and will do again.

Very compact and characterful accom with bedroom/bathroom below and kitchen/living up spiral staircase to loft. Beautiful and quiet setting on edge of Castleton, easy walk to town centre. Castleton an excellent base for Caves, reservoirs, Winnats Pas, Mam Tor and Higger Tor (with car).
