Rose Cottage in Hope Valley is a quaint and cosy property, praised for its stunning location in the Peak District. Guests have enjoyed the local walks, pubs, and historical charm of the cottage. While some found the cottage small with steep stairs, the unique experience and warm atmosphere often outweighed these concerns.
The cottage generally appears to be well-maintained, though there are isolated comments about stained mattress covers and a need for better dusting. The majority of guests, however, did not raise cleanliness as an issue.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to local attractions, caves, and eateries. Its setting in the beautiful Hope Valley makes it a perfect spot for exploring the Peak District.
Guests find the cottage cosy and the bed comfortable. However, some guests mention the steep staircase and limited space as factors that could affect comfort levels, particularly for those with mobility issues.
Facilities are adequate with a well-received modern shower and central heating. Criticisms include the lack of TV, limited kitchenware, and issues with windows and heating. Maintenance concerns such as leaks and heating problems were noted.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Needs attention/Improvement Very cold - Unable to over ride temperature. Outdoor temperature 0 to -2. Cottage 16°. Cost us £14 per night to heat cottage. Only a few logs and kindling left for us, which only lasted an hour or so. Had to use oven and hob to heat downstairs in the morning. Log Burner - Had not been clean out on arrival. Parking Pass - Unavailable - Sent Message - Offered to drop off Pass for us. Luckily we got away without parking ticket. Hand Soap - Bathroom - Bar of soap left that was used, unhygienic. Hand Pump needs to be left. Bins - There was no room in the bin for our rubbish or recycling. Not as advertised. We had to push the rubbish in public bins. No recycling bin. Made the most of our stay. Will look forward to our summer stay. Hopefully the heating will be sorted for our November 2024 booking.

TV in the cottage would be a bonus. The welcome gift was a lovely gesture. Sam the housekeeper is wonderful and very helpful. Lovely location.

If I could make one suggestion maybe blank out blinds in the bedroom. We really enjoyed our stay, loved the cosy warm feel to the cottage. Itâs well equipped and this being our third time in Castleton and we will definitely be back. We love the walks and knowing that they are restaurants and pubs on the door step coming back to the cottage after a long walk was just perfect. We had breakfast every morning at Dolly tea room, with got so thought until the evening meat. We are looking forward to coming back next October.
