This delightful, detached barn conversion is situated on the owners’ 120-acre grass and livestock farm, in the village of Whatlington. Guests are welcome to stroll across the fields, and if you are lucky, you may hear the nightingales sing. Buzzards are also frequent visitors. The inviting terrace overlooks the fields and is the perfect spot for al fresco dining.
Visit the delightful market town of Battle, which grew around Battle Abbey. You can walk across the famous battlefield and follow in the steps of the Norman and Saxon soldiers. The seaside town of Hastings, 7 miles, is a great place to stroll along the pier and indulge in some fish and chips. Sedlescombe offers the opportunity to visit a thriving organic vineyard, which has won many accolades for its wine. The area is home to National Trust properties, including Scotney Castle, Bodiam Castle and Rudyard Kipling’s stunning home, Bateman’s. The Cinque port town of Rye, with its cobbled medieval streets, it well worth a visit, and there are good rail links to London from nearby Battle. Golf is available locally. Beach 7 miles. We stayed in The Old Parlour the last week of August, a little tricky to find but the host was lovely and helpful. Once there it is a stunning place to stay and so peaceful. Everything was included and we were very appreciative of the welcome pack. Absolutely immaculate with lots of space for us all. Unfortunately we didn't get enough time to explore the local area but there is a supermarket within a short driving distance. I would highly recommend this property and would love to return again one day.
