Cottage was nice but stay was spoiled by the building site at the entrance to the only track in. We had site trucks and vans turning right in front of gate, worker’s parking right outside the cottage and we were blocked in by them parking right on the track. Had to wait 15 minutes for a cement truck to move, 20 minutes for a Jewson delivery lorry to stop blocking the gate, wait for someone appear and move a big van etc. The noise drove the deer away. A shame, as this was what we booked for, peace and quiet with forest wildlife! The single road north into the forest via Linford was permanently closed by road works (no workers to be seen) forcing us to exit onto the busy A31 and double back to Ringwood to go North. The cottage garden was nice and when the water suddenly went off, the owner quickly got a neighbour to sort it out.

We enjoyed our stay, the cottage is cosy, well equipped and placed in the New Forest where we had ponies outside the window and we also saw deer and donkeys. Travel through the Forest to Ringwood, Salisbury and our favourite fish and chip shop was a pleasure. My dog enjoyed her stay but we had to play in the garden with her due to the heat. My friend and I would certainly recommend Brookside.
