This delightful semi-detached cottage is just a short walk to Freshwater Bay, the perfect place for a relaxing and romantic coastal getaway on the Isle of Wight. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this property has been finished to a high standard in keeping with the traditional cottage feel. Stepping from the light and spacious hallway, where there is space to hang coats after a walk along the coastline, into the cosy living room, you notice the cottage feel, with an open fireplace, hidden Smart TV and relaxing seating for guests to enjoy. In the dining room there is seating for all guests and an electric wood burner-effect fire. French doors lead on the rear garden patio area where you will find garden furniture to enjoy the sun and evening sky. There is a door from the kitchen which leads on to the rear garden. Upstairs you will find two double bedrooms, a single room, family bathroom with rain head shower and a separate toilet. Outside the property is mainly laid to lawn with a patio area.
A visit to the Isle of Wight would not be complete without a trip to see The Needles which is approximately a 10-minute drive from the property. Freshwater Bay is perfect for paddling and enjoying the beach, and offers some water sports. Golf is available at Freshwater Bay Golf Club which is approx. 1 mile away, offering fantastic views across the bay. Walkers and cyclists, can use local paths, long distance trails and the sea path, or even complete the whole island which is just under 70 miles around. The location of the property offers many different activities or you can just relax there. Military Road is one place to visit--the uninterrupted views across the English Channel are something to be seen; don’t forget the camera. Local shops, restaurants and pubs are all within walking distance of Halcyon. Travel is via ferry from Lymington, Southampton or Portsmouth. Yarmouth is the nearest car and foot passenger ferry terminal, 3 miles from the property. The holiday starts as soon as you step on the ferry.

Comfortable, well equipped house. Had an enjoyable stay. Handy local Tesco just down road. Plenty of walking in area if weather okay . Easy walk to freshwater bay to see sea . Only issue, unable to use heating which would be problem in colder months. Visited interesting English heritage sites which were easy to get to.

We know the Island well and West Wight is a favourite - stunning scenery, lovely beaches and a quieter pace of life. Halcyon is a lovely cottage in Freshwater, close to Freshwater Bay and with a big Tesco (plus other shops) just up the road, and a short drive from Yarmouth where you can cross the Solent from Lymington on the WightLink ferry. It’s an easy, but very expensive crossing with a car (Tesco Clubcard points can help with that though).Halcyon has a lot of charm and has been decorated really nicely. With very comfortable double bedrooms and a single bedroom, a cosy lounge and kitchen/diner, separate toilet and bathroom, and a nice garden, we had everything we needed. It was a pleasantly cool house on hot summer days. Parking on the driveway in front of the house wasn’t the easiest with a big estate car, but perfectly do-able,The garden had a lot of charm and has a good balance of sun and shade.We really enjoyed our stay here, felt comfortable, a little bit spoilt to be in such a lovely place, and would happily come again. There was plenty of choice of things to watch on the TV, although the WiFi was a little temperamental for the Smart TV; generally, rebooting the router was enough to fix the problem and this was easy to do and just took a few minutes.If you want to explore the beautiful IoW, this would be a great base. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a brilliant stay, you are close to the local supermarket and you’re not far from freshwater bay. We did find the mattress hard but that was the only downside. We definitely would like to stay at Halcyon cottage, as its close to family and we love this side of the island Esther beaches in this area.
